Fingertoppskänsla

En domare i USA har kommit fram till att det för flera av fångarna som sitter i fånglägret Guantanamo, saknas varje form av hållbart bevis för det de anklagas för. Tur att man kom på det så snabbt. De har ju bara suttit inlåsta i 6 år.

Styrelseordföranden för de tre största biltillverkarna i USA har åkt till Washington för att ansöka om 25 000 000 000 US dollar för att rädda sina företag som de kört i botten. Till Washington åkte de i sina privata jetplan. Till skillnad från senatorer och andra regeringstjänstemän som får åka "kommunalt", så anser sig dessa av säkerhetsskäl vara motiverade att åka egna flygplan. Man kan kanske förstå att de har skaffat sig många fiender

under åren med en sådan total avsaknad av fingertoppskänsla.

Nya PS3 med 160 Gb hårddisk lanseras i november. Riktpris omkring 500 US dollar i USA. Får man gissa att den kommer kosta kring 5000 Sek i Sverige. Till det ska väl också tilläggas att den inte är bakåtkompatibel, dvs alla spel får man sälja tillbaka till affären för en femtedel, för att sedan köpa nya spel som kostar åtskilliga hundralappar mer. Enda hoppet är väl att lanseringen i Sverige blir försenad till efter jul.

För egen del kvarstår hostan och tungandningen. Om inget blir sämre (eller bättre) så ska jag träffa läkaren på måndag.

A US federal judge has ordered the release of five Guantanamo detainees. He said that the US government failed to show that they were enemy combatants, and they should be released because the government failed to show by a preponderance of evidence that any of them had planned to travel to Afghanistan to take up arms against the United States and its allies, as the government claimed. I am glad the so quickly found this out. It would have been terrible if they had been detained for a longer period without any reason.The five have been detained since 2002.

The CEOs for the top 3 car manufacturers in the US have travelled from Detroit to Washington to kindly ask for 25 000 000 000 US dollars to be able to save the companies that they have mismanaged to the edge of bankruptcy. To get to Washington they all took their own corporate jets. Unlike US senators and other top ranked officials that travel on regular commercial flights, these argued that they needed to do it for security reasons (and that bringing up this issue was diverting the attention from the much more important issue, as one GM spokesperson said). I guess these guys needs extra security with their total lack of sensitivity and social competence. It is like showing up at a soup kitchen in a high hat and tuxedo, as someone said.

The new PS3 from Sony is planned to be released in November, guaranteeing yet another Christmas with whining kids pestering their poor parents to buy them yet another 500 dollar Christmas present. And it is not even backward compatible, so all the PS2 games are useless.However, it is said that PS3 is a pretty good Blueray player. So now you can replace your DVDs with the same movies but for twice the price. Great!

As for myself, I still have the cough and somewhat difficult to breath. But unless it gets worse, I will try to get an appointment with my doctor on Monday.
